Mill Uptime Analysis and Required Maintenance Work

Uptime Analysis System for specialty pulp mill gathered information from chip yard, powerhouse, pulp mill process control system, pulp machine process control system and roll tracking system to generate daily uptime status report for mill management.

Required Maintenance Work captured maintenance requirements from each department and reported on them until addressed by the appropriate maintenance team.

Distribution Center Production Audit/Manifesting

Regional toy retailer distribution center used this system to verify order pick process and automatically generate truck manifests and order exception reports.

Each day’s orders and pick instructions were downloaded from the corporate mainframe during the night. As items were picked and packed, they were placed into an automated conveyor system that delivered the carton to the appropriate truck loading dock. The sorting system and hand held bar code terminals fed the pick information into the system as it was generated. When a truck was ready to be closed, a summary of the order and any missing items from the order was printed and the manifest was completed with the noted exceptions from the order.

Automated Truck Manifesting System

System integrated a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), a computerized conveyor sorting system, handheld barcode terminals and an AREV database system.

The system kept track of each carton as it was sorted onto stub conveyors at each loading bay. The PLC counted the cartons as they moved off the conveyor and into the truck. When the truck was loaded, the operator would select which loading bay to close and the system would generate a manifest from carton information received from the sorting system, destination information entered by the operator and the carton counts from the PLC.

Handheld Bar Code scanners were used for collecting and entering destination label information from oversize cartons and furniture.

System was installed at two other distribution centers owned by the same parent company.

Bicycle Trek Management

Developed for a company that ran regional and trans-continental bicycle tours for a national non-profit organization.

System managed information about the riders signed up for tours and their level of pledges generated. System also managed mailing lists of actual and potential riders and generated mailings in preparation for each event. Pledge management logged all pledges made and issued a series of reminders to help get pledge fulfilled.

Institutional Review Management

System managed experimental treatment protocols and the preparation of extensive regulatory reports.

Programmable Controller Documentation

System documented and managed information in support of a large GE Series 6 PLC installation on a paper mill modernization project. System collected information from several engineering databases and integrated that information into a hardware documentation system. Interface to the GE supplied Ladder Diagram documentation software was developed to eliminate hundreds of man-hours of data entry.

Provided printouts of all PLC processors, I/O racks and I/O cards. Documented all hardware and memory addresses with descriptors gathered from the engineering databases. Recorded all configuration switch settings, component revision levels and last battery change dates.

Printouts from the system were used extensively during the checkout and commissioning of this fast track project.

Funds Development System

System performed all development office functions for a mid-sized hospital, including mailings, accounting for donations and acknowledgment letters.

Bridal Registry

Designed to be used by walk-up customers and featured color-coded keys to walk them through finding the bride-to-be and printing a personal shopping list. Each night, the system in the main store would upload the daily transactions from each store, update the master database and then download a master update to all stores.
